CranioSacral Therapy in Adel - Leeds, West Yorkshire
CranioSacral therapy (CST) is a light-touch approach that can create dramatic improvements in your life. It releases tension deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improves whole body health and performance.
The CranioSacral system contains the brain, spinal cord and all related structures. Any restrictions or imbalances in the system may directly affect any or all aspects of the central nervous system performance. These problems can be detected and corrected by a skilled CranioSacral therapist.
Unlike cranial osteopathy which also affects the cranium, sacrum and coccyx, CST, as developed by Dr J Upledger (an osteopathic physician), focuses on the dura mater membrane system as the primary cause of dysfunction.
By freeing the central nervous system to perform at its best, CST naturally eliminates pain and stress, strengthens your resistance to disease and enhances your health and wellbeing.
CST is so gentle that it is suitable for all ages.
A typical CranioSacral Therapy session takes place in a quiet, private setting. You remain fully clothed as you relax on a comfortable, padded table.
Your therapist begins by gently touching various parts of your body to monitor the rhythm of the fluid that is flowing around your central nervous system.
Delicate manual techniques are then used to release problem areas and improve the form and function of your central nervous system.
A CST session can last up to an hour or more. It can be used alone or integrated with other therapies to create powerful effects.
What you experience from your own session is highly individual. The sessions are generally deeply relaxing, creating feelings of warmth or gentle pulsing in the areas the therapist is working on.
Mother & Baby Session
Mothers have to go through enormous body changes for the duration of the pregnancy. Substantial changes in weight distribution, perhaps aggravations of previous surgery or old injuries, can make this process uncomfortable as the connective tissues are pushed to near their limits of flexibility and accommodation. CST treatments will alleviate these pressures both during pregnancy and after the birth.
A treatment (or two) before the birth will help the birth itself to be more comfortable by relaxing the mother's connective tissues. A treatment (again, or two) for the mother some time after the birth will ease the aches in the back, hips and sacroiliacs (the joints between the hips and lower back) as well as easing any discomfort in the abdomen as organs and muscles recover their tone and elasticity.
New born babies commonly suffer from problems like colic, sucking problems, sleeplessness and respiratory difficulties, which may be due to compression arising from birth trauma. Babies tend to respond very quickly and effectively to CST.
The treatment is very gentle and composes of very light, warm pressures that softly tease out any stresses and strains. The baby can be treated on a couch or whilst being held in mum's or dad's arms.
